Clubs & Organizations

Anime Club
Anime Club meets on Wednesday's after school in the library and is an opportunity for students to share their interest in and learn about anime.  Anime is a Japanese style of animation that includes shows, movies, and graphic novels.  We share our favorites and learn about the history and themes of various anime are open to all grades.  Mr. Mitchell is the sponsor for this club.

Art Club

If Art class just isn't enough for you or, if you would like to try some of your own projects and meet professional artists, then, Art Club is the place for you! Mr. Zimmer will be the Advisor and Art Club will meet Wednesdays 3:45-4:30. Please see Mr. Zimmer about a start date.

Drama Club

Drama Club offers the opportunity for students to work together to bring theatrical production to the stage. Club meetings will be held every Tuesday and Thursday  afternoon in the Theater Room 145 from 3:30-4:30 September through the production in mid November. Mrs. Masse is the sponsor.

Geography Bee

The Geography Bee takes place after the first of the year. Listen to the announcements for upcoming information regarding the start date.

Ham Radio

Begins in October and will be held each Monday from 3:20-4:30. Ms. Chiariello is the sponsor for this club.

Jazz Band

The CJMS Jazz Band is an enrichment opportunity for musicians to challenge their abilities, improve their playing skills, and experience beginning jazz techniques.  Students MUST be enrolled in either band or orchestra,and membership is granted exclusively by audition.  Jazz Band meets twice a week, on Tuesday and Friday mornings, from 7:25 am - 8:10 am.  In addition to performing in several concerts, Jazz Band travels on an annual tour of our local elementary schools!

​Knitting Club 
Sponsored by Barb Dralle and consists of 6,7,8 grade students in beginning to advanced knitting.

Lego Club
Lego Club meets every Friday after school until 5 p.m. in Room 214, Mr VanZee's Room.  Snacks will be provided.  Email for further information.

Middle School Forensics (Speech and Debate)
Forensics, in the formal sense of the word, refers to public debates or formal argumentation suitable for a court of law. For our purposes, Forensics at the middle school level provides an opportunity for students to be involved in various forms of public speaking.  Public Forum Debate, Dramatic and Humorous Interpretation, Expository speaking, and Impromptu speeches are included in the competitions.  We will have three tournaments this year and will compete with Sacajawea Middle School, Headwaters, and Anderson.  The ultimate intent of Forensic events is to provide students with an opportunity to develop confidence in their ability to communicate ideas and points of view.


Science, Outdoors, and Robotics
SOAR Club meets every Tuesday from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.  Our focus is on scientific demonstrations and experiments, outdoor activities (ex. fly tying, casting, survival, Montana species) and beginning to intermediate level robotic interests.  We will have guest presenters from time to time as well.  If you are interested in scientific inquiry and have a need to learn and be with others who share your passions, please join us!

Spelling Bee

CJMS coordinates the school Spelling Bee with the local and state contests.This usually takes place in February and March. Mrs. Cannata is the sponsor. Listen to the daily announcements for further information.

Student Council (STUCO) - Grades 6, 7, 8

Students help coordinate school dances, talent show and do service learning projects. Some serve on an executive council with the Principal and Asst. Principal. Student Council meets at each grade level. 


Do you think you can capture the funniest photo from Spirit Night? Do you have some great ideas for a yearbook theme? Can you write the most creative captions for yearbook candid photos? If so, then we hope that you will apply for Yearbook Club. All students are invited to apply, and application forms are available in the Counseling Center. Students selected to join the club will be notified in late September. Yearbook club meets each Thursday 3:30 – 4:30 in the library.

All Students attending CJMS are encouraged to participate in at least two activities throughout the year. Get involved!
