How can your gifted 7th or 8th grader:
  • Win a scholarship?
  • Learn more about their strengths?
  • Develop compelling evidence for why they need accelerated instruction?
  • Be recognized for their academic prowess?
By participating in the Montana AGATE SAT Challenge!
Each year, Montana AGATE awards twelve $250 scholarships to Montana 7th & 8th graders who score high on the SAT test and recognizes dozens of students with an awards ceremony and motivational speakers.  It's our way of rewarding excellence and encouraging them to take an "out-of-level" test that will help them understand their strengths and how they compare not just to students in their grade, but also to high school juniors and seniors.

To compete, students must:
  1. Be enrolled in the 7th or 8th grade.
  2. Have scored at the 95th percentile or higher on a nationally normed test of aptitude or achievement or on one of the subtests, such as the math or verbal sections. CJMS students who scored in the 95th percentile on their fall STAR assessment in Reading or Math, or students who are currently identified PEAKS, will receive a personal letter to participate. Please make sure your address is current with our registrar.
  3. Register to take the SAT, using these special instructions from AGATE. [If your student is under age 13 and therefore using the paper registration process, be sure to use AGATE's "high school code" of 0605.] Paper registration booklets can be picked up in the CJMS counseling center.
