Community Suggestions for Mascot & Colors

The High School Transition Committee invites the Bozeman Community to be involved in the process for submitting nominations for a mascot and colors of the new high school.  The new high school is under construction now and will be open in August of 2020.  The new high school is located at the corner of Oak and Cottonwood.

Nominations will be collected until Friday, March 8, 2019.  After everyone has a chance to suggest a name, the Committee will meet and narrow down the list.  The final name must be approved by the School Board.

Please submit only one suggestion per person.  All suggestions must be submitted by Friday, March 8 by 5:00pm.

To avoid confusion we cannot use the colors and/or mascot from another AA High School.  We also want to avoid using mascots from neighboring schools.

Below are mascots and colors for the AA High Schools, BSD7 Elementary Schools as well as local Middle Schools. 

Please do not submit a mascot or colors that are listed below.

Community Suggestions for the name of High School #2

Nominations are now closed.  Suggestions will be given to the Board of Trustees at the February 25 Board Meeting.

The High School Transition Committee invites the Bozeman Community to be involved in the process for submitting nominations for the name of the new high school.  The new high school is under construction now and will be open in August of 2020.  The new high school is located at the corner of Oak and Cottonwood.   

Nominations will be collected until February 15, 2019.  After everyone has a chance to suggest a name, the Committee will meet and narrow down the list.  By District Policy, the committee is charged with providing no less than 3 and no more than 5 suggested names to the Board of Trustees.  The final name will be selected and approved by the School Board.  

Please submit only one suggestion per person.  All suggestions must be submitted by February 15 by 5pm.

Here are some parameters for making a suggestion for the name of the new school.  These rules are set by our District policies regarding naming of facilities.  Please read before submitting your suggestion.
 
1. District buildings, may be named after persons who have attained international, national, state, or local prominence, or after persons who have made a significant contribution to the district, or after the geographic characteristics of the area in which the facility is located.

2. In addition, when possible the name shall be known to, and significant to, the people of the District.  

3. The names shall not conflict with the names of other schools in the District or surrounding districts.  (Please see below for a list of both local schools and AA schools in the State.)  

4. The use of the names of living persons, or persons whose death occurred within five years of the selection shall be avoided.
